イベントというよりもインシデントか？
こんなに長い時間、Gmailが使えなくなったのは初めての体験だ。
TechCrunchの記事はupdateを続け、Twitterでは皆がつながらないと騒いでいる。

Update 4: Google’s official statement was just blogged.

If you’ve tried to access your Gmail account today, you are probably aware by now that we’re having some problems. Shortly after 10 9:30am GMT our monitoring systems alerted us that Gmail consumer and businesses accounts worldwide could not get access to their email.

Many of our users had difficulty accessing Gmail today. This also affected Google Apps users. The problem is now resolved and users have had access restored. We know how important the Google Apps Email is to our customers, so we take issues like this very seriously, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

仕事もプライベートもGmailに依存している人（世界中にいるはず…）にとっては一大事。
せめてもの救いは、（日本では）就業時間後のトラブルだったことか…。

仕方がないので、代替手段として他のメール・サービスでメモを送る。
仕事にならないので、最近ご無沙汰していたSNSにアクセスしてみる…。

上記の公式ブログのコメントにあるように、Google Apps Emailも障害を起こしていたので、
おそらく有料無料の区別なく、この災難に会ったのだろう。
SLAを謳っていても100%ではないわけだが、有料ユーザーは特に悔しい思いをしただろう。
まさか、Googleが？ということは、もう通用しない時代になってきている、ということか？

それにしても、こういうときに、Twitterのコメント群はスゴイ。
これまで散々システム・ダウンに悩まされてきたTwitterの面目躍如といえる。
